itineraries Lübz (Mecklenburg)

The routes mentioned are only suggestions. Of course, you are also welcome to put together a route according to your own ideas. The distances and travel times in the route recommendations are based on experience at average speeds of 6-8 km/h. The average time to pass a lock is 15-20 minutes (but depends on the season and traffic). Please also note the "lock opening times" of individual locks! These can vary from sailing area to area.

 

The lake district

from/to Lübz via Röbel, 1 week

Details of the route:

84 km, 8 locks, approx. 18 hours' journey.

The starting and ending point of your houseboat trip is Lübz. The small, well-kept harbour is located directly in the town centre and offers a comfortable start to your holiday with the houseboat. In the lovingly renovated old town you will find cosy cafés and restaurants. The "Alter Wasserturm" observation tower, the planetarium, the Amtsturm - the last contemporary witness of the Eldenburg, now with a town museum, and of course the Lübzer brewery are also worth a visit.

Plau am See: The climatic health resort with its picturesque old town invites you to take a stroll. Historic lift bridge over the Elde. The Müritz Fish Days take place every year at the end of September / beginning of October!

Malchow (island town): A climatic health resort, the old town centre lies on an island between Lake Malchow and Lake Fleesensee and can be reached via an earth dam or swing bridge. Summer toboggan run and monkey forest.

Jabel: small, cosy village centre for strolling, relaxing and enjoying. Wisent enclosure in the Damerower Werder nature reserve, opposite the marina, which lies in the Jabel lake. Surrounded by forest and lakes (including Kölpinsee and Fleesensee), only 10 km from Waren an der Müritz.

Waren: state-recognised spa (brine spa), botanical garden in a charming location, cosy old town, city tour with the "Tschu-Tschu-Bahn", old warehouse with shopping arcade, exhibitions by artists from the region, churches worth seeing, climbing forest.

Röbel: recognised health resort, beautiful lakeside promenade with restaurants and cafés, maritime flair due to the old boathouses, some with reed roofs, medieval town centre, many colourful half-timbered houses, restored windmill in the middle of town on the castle hill, two imposing early Gothic church towers.

The state capital

from/to Lübz via Schwerin, 1 week

149 km, 8 locks, approx. 27 hours' journey.

The starting and end point of your houseboat trip is Lübz. The small, well-kept harbour is located directly in the town centre and offers a comfortable start to your holiday on a houseboat. In the lovingly renovated old town you will find cosy cafés and restaurants. The lookout tower "Alter Wasserturm", the planetarium, the Amtsturm - the last contemporary witness of the Eldenburg, now with a town museum and of course the Lübzer brewery are also worth a visit.

Parchim: over 10 registered eagle nests, including 2 white-tailed eagles (over 2m wingspan), network of hiking and cycling trails through the moors, historic old town with charming architecture, winding lanes, cafés, restaurants and bars / pubs invite you to stay.

Schwerin: cosy old town or modern centre Marienplatz, Schwerin offers countless opportunities for strolling and shopping, numerous small artist and craft shops. The landmark of the state capital: Schwerin Castle, nestled in the Schwerin lake landscape, it resembles a fairytale castle. Wonderful baroque castle and palace gardens. Zoo.
