Houseboat holidays: the cruising area
Once you have decided on a particular route, it is advisable to obtain information about the river and its navigational features before embarking on your boating holiday. Once on board a houseboat, there is hardly any time left for reading. We will be happy to advise you on the selection of appropriate literature.
IMPORTANT:
In Germany, the official inland pleasure craft licence is required on inland waterways. However, there is a partial exemption from the requirement for a licence on German waterways: with a charter licence, which you will receive locally in accordance with the instructions, you can, for example, set off from Alsace in the direction of Saarbrücken without having an official inland pleasure craft licence. The same applies to trips on the Mecklenburg Lake District. You can find more information on the respective region pages.
