Yachtcharter Seychelles - Natural wonders inclusive

The Seychelles Archipelago

The 115 islets of the island paradise are scattered over a water surface of 453 km² in the Indian Ocean, with land covering only around 220 km². For this and many other reasons, the best way to explore this tiny untouched oceanic republic is on a sailing cruise or yacht charter from Mahé.

These priced islands have long been a dream holiday destination for many reasons: wide stretches of white beaches with sand as fine as flour, nestled between bizarre granite rocks and lush green vegetation, showcasing that rain showers can occur all year around.

In the Seychelles one finds a botanical treasure and marine oases with a rich and endemic flora and fauna. Nearly 60% of the land is under nature protection. As one of the first countries, the Seychelles have included nature protection in the constitution.

Look forward to stunning long beaches and secluded bays.

The weather in the Seychelles offers sun and wind all year around. Even though there are two seasons the Seychelles islands are an all year round destination and offers good sailing conditions.

The southeast passat is blowing from May until the end of September. Temperatures range from 22 -32 degrees Celsius. The winds blow with strengths between 2 and 5 Beaufort. From December to March, the monsoon from the northwest brings a little more moisture and humidity. Short rain showers can occur all year round and the water temperature is 27-29 degrees. There are no tropical diseases and the Seychelles are outside the cyclone zone; Natural disasters are unknown. During a yacht charter or sailing cruise you have the possibility to visit the following islands and more:

Mahé

The largest of the “inner-islands”. About 90%of the population of the Seychelles lives on Mahé. This is why visitors have the opportunity to experience the culture of the Seychelles on the main island. The international airport and the port of embarkation for all of our cruises are located in Mahé from the Eden Island Marina. Of course, there are also many different restaurants and shopping facilities. Visit the small island capital Victoria with the “Little Big Ben” and the small but charming market. Mahé is also home to the famous: Takamaka. Do not miss out on the rum distillery.

Praslin

Some of the most famous beaches not only in the Seychelles but in the world can be found on Praslin, such as the Anse Lazio. The Anse Lazio has been rated as one of the most beautiful beaches  several occasions. On tripadvisor, Anse Lazio frequently manages to be in the top 10 beaches in the world. Praslin is also famous for the almost mystical Vallee de Mai, where the endemic and legendary Coco de Mer can be found. The Coco de Mer is the largest seed in the world and can only be found in the Seychelles.

La Digue

The small island of La Digue is also well-known for its beaches such as the Anse Source d’Argent. Especially for the granite rock formations which can be found embedded all around the island. The popular Bacardi commercials were also filmed on La Digue. The small island can only be explored with a bicycle or with the ox-cart, as there is almost no car traffic on the island. During the bicycle tour do not miss out on the House of Emmanuelle which was used as the movie set for “Emmanuelle”

On a sailing cruise or yacht charter, you will also have the opportunity to visit the smaller secluded and protected islands such as:

Curieuse

Stroll through the mangrove forest on the island with the giant tortoise.

Sainte Annse

Over 150 species of fish in the Marine Park.

Ile Coco and Sainte Pierre

Small pirate islands, ideal for snorkeling enthusiasts.

Regulations and licenses:

The Ministry of Tourism and the SMSA (Seychelles Maritime Safety Administration) have raised the requirements for foreign skippers on bareboat charters in the Seychelles. Skippers must present all valid licenses and furthermore fill in a nautical experience form in order to prove that they are experienced enough.
Questions include how long, where and what kind of boats the skipper has sailed in the past. But also who is his co skipper and what is experience is. The form (sailing resume) should therefore be sent before booking flights and accommodation so that it can be checked, in case of refusal of the resume. Our partners will also hold a navigation and technical briefing where the skipper skills will be evaluated. During check-in, if this is not satisfactory the company can send a professional skipper to join the crew for 24h to see the competency.
